Kolkata, Nov. 2 -- Following interrogation of the former Bengal Tourism and Cultural Affairs minister Indranil Sen's wife Madhuchhanda Sen, Kolkata Police have summoned their daughter Averi Sen for questioning at the Lalbazar.

The development comes as part of a widening probe into a multi-crore fake Durga Puja pass scam that has rocked the state's political and cultural circles.

According to sources, investigators uncovered several suspicious financial transactions linked to Averi's bank account. Sleuths suspect that funds generated from tender fraud and the illegal distribution of high-priced VIP passes fraudulently sold under an unauthorised 'UNESCO' tag were routed through her accounts. Investigators intend to question her regarding the source of these funds and whether she was a direct beneficiary of the illicit proceeds.

The high-profile case originated from a formal complaint lodged at the Bowbazar Police Station by travel consultant Jaydeep Mukherjee, who alleged large-scale duplication and black-marketing of festival passes.

As the Kolkata Police track the criminal conspiracy and fraudulent sales, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has simultaneously stepped in to probe the money laundering aspects and trace the full scale of the multi-crore financial trail.
