Kolkata, Sept. 29 -- The residence and party office of former councillor Arun Bhowmik were vandalised in Barasat's Nabapally on Monday evening.

Bhowmik, arrested in May over alleged post-poll violence following the 2021 Assembly elections, was recently granted bail and returned home after 77 days in custody. A mob allegedly gathered outside his Ward 7 residence, pelted stones and smashed windows before targeting his party office.

Only Bhowmik's wife Nandita and another relative were present.

Bhowmik alleged a targeted attack by local BJP workers, a charge denied by BJP leaders.

Police personnel have been deployed in the area. A probe is underway.
