
New Delhi, Oct. 8 -- The Delhi Police has busted an alleged interstate racket involving forged disability certificates used to facilitate admissions under the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category, apprehending nine people and recovering 27 certificates, an officer said on Thursday.
The investigation began with the arrest of Lalit Kumar alias Aditya, 36, from Faridabad on August 31. Police recovered 16 PwD certificates issued by government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh, along with three mobile phones and a laptop.
According to police, Lalit worked with education consultants, including Roshan Kumar of Noida, to collect students' details and arrange forged certificates for Rs 20,000-30,000 each. Aadhaar addresses were allegedly altered using AI tools before applications were submitted on the Unique Disability ID (UDID) portal.
Roshan was apprehended on September 1, while Kuldeep, a contractual computer operator at the Bareilly Divyang office, was arrested on September 3. Police alleged Kuldeep helped prepare forged medical reports.
Others arrested include Sher Singh Solanki, Bareilly disability board member Dr Laxmi Kant Saxena, Siddharth Nagar senior malaria inspector Jai Prakash Shukla, his acquaintance Surendra Rastogi, Adesh Singh and Deoria CMO office junior assistant Dhirender Kumar Pandey.
Police alleged Shukla misused his position to facilitate certificates, while Pandey prepared forged documents for Rs 5,000 each.
The force recovered a laptop, MacBook, desktop, 11 mobile phones, Rs 75,000 cash and a Mercedes car. Police are searching for Chandan Singh Yadav of Gorakhpur and examining the role of doctors and students linked to the
certificates.
