New Delhi, Sept. 4 -- The Delhi Police Crime Branch has busted an interstate cyber fraud syndicate allegedly involving foreign operators in a fake online investment scheme.
The case was registered through an e-FIR on November 18, 2025, after complainant Gaurav Rustogi was allegedly cheated of Rs 30.06 lakh through WhatsApp groups, Telegram channels and fraudulent investment platforms.
Police arrested Udit Tyagi, 26, of Meerut, after he was apprehended at Jaipur International Airport pursuant to a Look-Out Circular. Investigators said Tyagi had fled India and travelled to Thailand, Malaysia and the UAE.
The probe found a structured network involving foreign or Chinese operators, Telegram handlers, Indian intermediaries, mule-account providers, cryptocurrency handlers and local coordinators.
Victims were allegedly shown fictitious profits before being persuaded to invest larger amounts, followed by demands for fees to withdraw funds.
Police identified over 18 mule accounts and traced Rs 5 lakh. Four more were arrested, while the network was linked to over 35 cybercrime complaints.
