India, July 17 -- The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has recorded major successes in anti-Maoist, anti-terror and anti-insurgency operations across Left Wing Extremism (LWE)-affected states, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) and the North East during the first half of 2026, while also expanding welfare initiatives for its personnel and their families. In Maoist-hit states, the force neutralised 40 Maoists, arrested 71 and facilitated the surrender of 336 cadres between January and June. Security forces also recovered 375 firearms, more than 8,300 rounds of ammunition, 3,211 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), explosives, grenades and Rs 2 crore in cash from Maoist camps.

The operations resulted in the killing of several top Maoist functionaries and the arrest of key leaders, including Ravindra Ganju, who carried a reward of Rs 20 lakh on his head. In Jammu and Kashmir, counter-insurgency operations led to the killing of eight terrorists and the arrest of 24 over-ground workers and suspects. Security agencies also targeted several foreign terror networks, including Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. The CRPF has deployed over 232 companies in J&K to ensure security for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, which had attracted more than 2.75 lakh pilgrims till July 13.

Forces recovered 289 weapons, nearly 5,000 rounds of ammunition and more than 1.65 tonnes of illicit drugs, besides dismantling several insurgent camps and bunkers in Manipur. Alongside operational achievements, the CRPF has strengthened welfare measures by partnering with Jaypee Institute of Information Technology and Made Easy to offer scholarships and concessions to serving and retired personnel and their dependents.
