India, July 25 -- A proposed Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) demonstration outside media offices in Noida's Film City was called off on Thursday after one of the organisers reportedly received a phone call from a Delhi Police official seeking details of the event. The protest, scheduled for 4.30 pm, had been announced on social media, urging supporters to stage a peaceful sit-in outside media offices with placards reading "10 Saal Ka Hisab Do" and raise issues concerning students, farmers, women and minorities. According to the organisers, the call prompted them to cancel the programme. However, Inspector Pramod, SHO of Mayur Vihar police station, denied any attempt to stop the protest, saying police had merely sought to verify information circulating on social media. A video of the conversation has surfaced online. While police described it as a routine enquiry, CJP members maintained that the call led to the protest being cancelled.
