Mumbai, Sept. 8 -- Mumbai Police detained two men at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex after one of them allegedly claimed to be an official from the Prime Minister's Office.
The suspect, identified as Rohan Parekh, was reportedly carrying a fake PMO identity card when he was stopped during a security check. Police verified the document and found it to be forged. A gun was also reportedly recovered from the bodyguard accompanying Parekh. The Mumbai Crime Branch is now investigating why the two men allegedly tried to enter the venue using a forged identity card while one of them was carrying a weapon.
The detentions took place ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to the Jio World Centre in BKC on Tuesday. He is set to inaugurate the Global Fintech Fest 2026 and address the gathering.
