Kolkata, Sept. 30 -- The former minister Indranil Sen appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake for questioning over the alleged misappropriation of money by issuing Durga Puja passes using the name of UNESCO.

The singer-turned-politician's arrival at the ED office comes after a 16-hour-long raid at his residence and several other places. On Wednesday, Sen arrived at the central agency's office at around 10:45 am, following a formal summons issued under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

According to sources, the probe centres on an alleged financial scam estimated between Rs 50 crore and Rs 60 crore involving an organisation named 'massArt,' which is run by the former minister's wife, Madhuchhanda Sen.

Investigators allege that the organisation systematically misappropriated funds by capitalising on the UNESCO 'Intangible Cultural Heritage' tag awarded to Kolkata's Durga Puja. The group is accused of running an unauthorised, commercialised operation between 2022 and 2024, selling high-priced 'preview passes' for entries to premium pandals under the guise of cultural promotions.
