Kolkata, April 20 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned the Tollywood actor Nusrat Jahan in connection with the ongoing probe into the ration distribution scam.
The actor has been asked to appear at the ED office at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake but she appealed to shift the venue to the Delhi ED office, citing personal reasons.
According to sources, during the COVID situation, several trucks loaded with wheat were seized in the border area while the consignment was allegedly being smuggled out to Bangladesh. At that time, Jahan was the MP from Basirhat. During the investigation by the central agency, several names surfaced and they have been questioned as well.
Now the ED wants to talk to the then MP of Bashirhat.
It may be mentioned that earlier, the ED had questioned Jahan in connection with a flat-selling fraud case. In 2023, the then TMC MP from Basirhat was questioned by investigators for about six hours at the CGO Complex. It was alleged that a real estate company had taken a huge amount of money from the investors but failed to deliver flats. Jahan was accused of being associated with the said company as a director. However, Jahan denied the allegations and claimed that she herself had taken a loan from the company and repaid it accordingly.
