New Delhi, Nov. 2 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday conducted searches at 14 locations across Chandigarh, Mohali and Hoshiarpur in connection with a corruption case involving former Punjab Industries Minister Sunder Sham Arora, his son Prateek Arora and others.

The searches come around four months ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections, scheduled early next year, with the current Assembly's term ending in March 2027.

The ED action is linked to allegations of a Rs 1 crore bribe paid to a Vigilance Bureau official, possession of disproportionate assets and suspected irregularities in the allotment of industrial plots by the Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC).

The agency searched properties belonging to Arora, his son and individuals associated with real estate companies, including GRG Developers and Promoters LLP, SRG Developers and Promoters, and Gulmohar Township Private Limited.

Premises linked to Marbella Group and individuals, including Sanjeev Juneja, were also covered during the searches.

The investigation is aimed at gathering evidence relating to the alleged bribery, disproportionate assets and irregularities in the allotment of industrial plots.
