Kolkata, Sept. 10 -- The EC has decided to hear a five-member delegation led by Ritabrata Banerjee on September 12 concerning the All India Trinamool Congress, setting the stage for a significant interaction between the poll panel and the delegation ahead of the Bengal bypoll.
In a letter issued on September 9, ECI secretary Ashwani Kumar Mohal informed Banerjee that the EC had decided to grant an appointment to his five-member delegation on Saturday.
The letter follows Banerjee's representation to the EC dated June 22 on issues concerning the Trinamool Congress, which is recognised as a political party in West Bengal, Meghalaya and Tripura. However, the ECI communication does not spell out the specific issues raised in the representation.
The scheduled interaction assumes significance as it provides the delegation an opportunity to make its presentation before the EC.
