India, Aug. 19 -- The University of Delhi has issued a detailed set of guidelines for campaigning ahead of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections 2026-27, restricting the use of printed publicity material, vehicles and public gatherings on campus. The norms were finalised during a meeting held on July 16 between the University Proctor, DUSU office-bearers and representatives of various student bodies. The university said the guidelines would be implemented in accordance with the Delhi High Court and Lyngdoh Committee directives. Under the rules, there will be a complete ban on printed posters, billboards and banners in and around the campus. Candidates will be allowed to use only designated "Walls of Democracy", where publicity must be handwritten. DU has capped candidates at five cars, banned tractors, JCBs and animals, and barred gifts, souvenirs and branded canopies. Public meetings require prior notice, while only five students can campaign inside colleges and women in girls' hostels.
