India, July 24 -- The University of Delhi on Thursday issued an advisory urging students and faculty members to refrain from participating in the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar, cautioning that involvement in unlawful assemblies could result in legal action and have adverse academic and professional consequences. The advisory, circulated to the university community, stressed that the institution's foremost concern was the safety and well-being of students and faculty. It reminded members of the university that demonstrations at Jantar Mantar are subject to regulations and restrictions in accordance with directives of the Supreme Court. The university cautioned that participation in assemblies deemed unlawful could expose individuals to legal proceedings. It further warned that such involvement might affect students' academic records and future professional opportunities, urging them to carefully consider the implications before joining any demonstration. Emphasising the importance of maintaining discipline and a conducive academic environment, DU advised students to focus on their academic commitments and avoid activities that could disrupt normal university functioning. The administration also encouraged the university community to exercise caution and make informed decisions while adhering to institutional rules and applicable laws.
