New Delhi, July 31 -- The Delhi government will launch the online portal for its flagship Delhi Laxmi Yojana on August 1, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta set to inaugurate the platform at the District Magistrate (East) Office in Geeta Colony. The launch will mark the beginning of online applications for the scheme.
During the event, the chief minister will register a few eligible women to formally start the application process. Thereafter, applications from other beneficiaries will be accepted through the portal. The government has said it aims to complete verification of eligible applications in a time-bound manner so that the first instalment can be released by Raksha Bandhan.
Under the scheme, eligible women will receive Rs.2,500 per month as financial assistance. The Delhi government has allocated Rs. 5,110 crore for the programme in the 2026-27 Budget and estimates that it will benefit over 17 lakh women across the national capital. Announcing the launch, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the government had fulfilled one of its major commitments to women. She described the Delhi Laxmi Yojana as "a landmark initiative for women's dignity, financial security and self-reliance" and urged all eligible women to apply through the online portal.
According to the government, the application process has been made fully online to ensure transparency and timely processing of applications. Officials said the digital platform is intended to simplify registration, speed up verification and enable eligible beneficiaries to receive financial assistance without delays. The scheme is one of the Delhi government's flagship welfare initiatives aimed at providing regular financial support to women.
