New Delhi, June 21 -- The Delhi government on Sunday said nearly 45,000 NEET candidates and their parents benefited from special facilities arranged at 97 examination centres across the Capital during the conduct of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).

According to the government, NEET was conducted smoothly and peacefully in Delhi, with measures aimed at easing transportation and reducing inconvenience for candidates and their families. The facilities included free travel for NEET candidates in DTC buses on the production of valid admit cards and the setting up of cooling zones outside examination centres.

The cooling zones were equipped with seating arrangements, drinking water, ORS, shikanji, tea and first-aid facilities for parents and guardians waiting outside the centres.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said, "Special arrangements were made keeping in mind every student's aspirations and every parent's concerns." She added that the feedback received indicated that the arrangements had provided relief to candidates and their families.

Describing the initiative as unprecedented, Gupta said, "A first-of-its-kind initiative in the country, coordinated efforts of multiple departments deserve appreciation."

The Chief Minister said the government's role during major examinations extends beyond administrative arrangements to addressing the needs of students and their families. She also acknowledged the contribution of the district administration, Transport Department, DTC, Delhi Police, Health Department and other agencies involved in managing the arrangements.

The Delhi government said similar citizen-centric initiatives aimed at supporting students and their families would continue in the future.
