India, Aug. 6 -- The Delhi government on Wednesday directed multiple agencies to remove bottlenecks delaying key infrastructure projects, with Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh stressing that the focus is on "permanent engineering solutions" to chronic waterlogging, smoother traffic movement and faster execution of National Highway projects across the Capital. Chairing the fifth meeting of the UT-Level Coordination Committee on NHAI and GNCTD issues, Singh reviewed the progress of several pending projects with officials from the PWD, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Delhi Police, MCD, Delhi Jal Board (DJB), DDA, DMRC, Revenue Department, BSES and other agencies. Clear responsibilities and timelines have been assigned to every agency. Our priority is to eliminate inter-departmental bottlenecks and accelerate project execution so that Delhiites witness tangible improvements on the ground," Singh said. The committee reviewed recurring waterlogging on NH-24, particularly at the Patparganj and Pandav Nagar underpasses, besides vulnerable locations including Nausena Bhawan, Thal Sena Bhawan, Mahipalpur T-Point and the R&R Hospital underpass. While the PWD has completed desilting of the drain along NH-24, NHAI has been directed to raise the road level to provide a permanent solution. Also Read - Over 1.5K police personnel, CAPF units deployed The meeting also assessed the progress of the Andheria Mor-NH-48 corridor, Rangpuri Bypass Tunnel utility shifting, Rohtak Road corridor, service roads and drainage infrastructure. BSES and other departments were instructed to complete pending technical formalities and approvals on priority. "Our Government believes in delivering permanent engineering solutions rather than temporary arrangements. Whether it is NH-24, Mahipalpur or any other vulnerable location, our objective is to provide long-term relief through better planning, stronger coordination and time-bound execution," Singh said. The committee further directed the Revenue Department to expedite land demarcation and mutation, while the DJB was asked to prioritise utility shifting and NOCs to avoid delays. It also reviewed congestion at Delhi's border toll plazas, encroachments and unauthorised parking on highways, and emergency response systems along the UER-II corridor, directing agencies to submit Action Taken Reports before the next review meeting. Concluding the meeting, Singh said, "Our objective is clear, faster execution, stronger coordination and outcome-oriented governance... citizens benefit from safer roads, improved drainage and seamless connectivity."
