India, May 12 -- The Delhi government has received an overwhelming response to the Draft Delhi EV Policy 2026, with nearly 700 stakeholders participating in the month-long public consultation process conducted by the Transport Department. The draft policy remained in the public domain till May 10, inviting suggestions from citizens, industry representatives and institutions. The government also held extensive consultations with electric vehicle manufacturers, charge point operators, battery swapping companies, DISCOMs, fleet aggregators and other stakeholders connected to the EV ecosystem. Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said the large participation reflected growing public support for clean mobility. "The overwhelming response received from citizens, industry stakeholders, institutions and experts reflects Delhi's collective aspiration Also Read - Rescuing lives, restoring dignity towards a cleaner, greener and future-ready mobility ecosystem," he said. According to officials, around 400 submissions came from the general public, including commuters, RWAs, students, delivery riders and vehicle owners. Nearly 200 responses were received from industry stakeholders such as OEMs, battery recyclers, charge point operators and vehicle scrappers. More than 50 suggestions were also submitted by schools, NGOs, universities, environmental groups and policy organisations, while several government departments and statutory bodies also participated in the consultation process. The minister said the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is committed to creating a "progressive and implementation-oriented EV policy" aimed at accelerating electric vehicle adoption and strengthening sustainable urban mobility. He added that constructive suggestions received during consultations are being examined carefully and suitable recommendations will be incorporated to make the final policy more inclusive, practical and future-ready.
