New Delhi, Oct. 22 -- The Delhi government has deployed 14 Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) ambulances across West Delhi to improve access to emergency medical assistance in densely populated neighbourhoods and interior areas, where traffic

congestion and geographical spread can delay response times.

The deployment, carried out on the directions of Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, will cover Vikaspuri, Uttam Nagar, Nangloi, Ranhola, Dichau Kalan and other localities.

"Our objective is to ensure that people in Delhi can access timely emergency medical services close to their homes. The deployment of 14 CATS ambulances across West Delhi will strengthen emergency response, particularly in densely populated areas, and help ensure that patients receive assistance in the shortest possible time," Singh said. As part of the deployment strategy, the ambulances will be stationed at selected locations near Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, dispensaries and bus terminals to improve accessibility and facilitate quicker responses to emergency calls from surrounding areas.

The initiative aims to address challenges in providing timely ambulance services in densely populated localities, where traffic congestion can affect the time taken to reach patients requiring urgent medical attention. Local residents and CATS ambulance staff were present during the deployment. Residents welcomed the move, expressing hope that having ambulances stationed closer to their homes would help minimise delays during medical emergencies.

The government said the initiative complements its broader efforts to strengthen public healthcare infrastructure through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs and other healthcare facilities, while improving access to emergency medical services across the capital.
