India, April 28 -- The Delhi Legislative Assembly has nominated 14 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for the financial year 2026-27. According to an official notification issued by the Assembly Secretariat, the nominations have been made by the Speaker under Section 3(3)(b)(iii) of the Municipal Corporation Act, 1957. The move is aimed at ensuring representation of elected legislators in the functioning of the civic body. The nominated MLAs include Raj Karan Khatri (Narela), Tilak Ram Gupta (Tri Nagar), Poonam Sharma (Wazirpur), Som Dutt (Sadar Bazar), Vishesh Ravi (Karol Bagh), Kailash Gangwal (Madipur), Shyam Sharma (Hari Nagar), Kailash Gahlot (Bijwasan), Kuldeep Solanki (Palam), Virender Singh Kadian (Delhi Cantt), Umang Bajaj (Rajender Nagar), Satish Upadhyay (Malviya Nagar), Kartar Singh Tanwar (Chhatarpur), and Ravinder Singh Negi (Patparganj). The nomination of MLAs to the MCD is a statutory provision aimed at strengthening coordination between the legislative and municipal arms of governance, particularly in areas such as urban infrastructure, sanitation, public health, and local development. The newly nominated members are expected to play a key role in aligning civic policies with legislative priorities and addressing issues affecting residents across the capital.
