Kolkata, June 29 -- Deganga MLA Anisur Rahman Bidesh has announced that he will donate his entire MLA salary to support meritorious and economically disadvantaged students through scholarship programmes for as long as he remains an elected representative. The announcement came through a video message shared on social media, where he also outlined a broader development roadmap for the Constituency.
Placing education at the centre of his agenda, Rahman said the scholarship initiative would begin in September using the salary accumulated during July and August. He stated that the financial assistance would be directed towards deserving students to encourage academic excellence and reduce economic barriers to education.
Alongside the scholarship plan, the MLA detailed several development initiatives. These include allocation of Rs 15 lakh from the MLA fund for upgrading Bishwanathpur Hospital, with emphasis on strengthening infrastructure and establishing additional facilities, including maternity services. Local health centres in the area are also set to receive Rs 5 lakh each for development work. Rahman further announced plans to introduce at least one digital classroom in every school, covering five schools and three madrasas, while three ICDS centres will be developed as model institutions.
He also proposed launching a free ambulance service for needy residents from July and extending financial support of Rs 20,000 for the marriage of 20 underprivileged women in the Constituency.
