New Delhi, Nov. 5 -- The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has deployed mechanised sweepers, sprinklers, misting poles and anti-smog guns across its zones to curb road dust and pollution, while stepping up action against open burning and construction waste dumping. The measures are being overseen by Lieutenant-Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu.
In Narela, two sweepers and seven sprinklers are in use. Rohini's machines cover 166 km of roads on alternate days. Dwarka has 270 misting poles along 11.8 km; seven sprinklers are planned.
The North Zone has an anti-smog gun at Vikas Minar and four sprinklers in Dheerpur.
The South Zone has seven sprinklers, three anti-smog guns and seven enforcement teams. DDA has planted 21.24 lakh saplings, grassed 143 acres of parks and greened 8 km of roadside stretches. Teams are checking burning and malba dumping, while construction materials are covered with green nets.
