NEW DELHI, July 15 -- A Delhi court has allowed jailed activist Umar Khalid to have two weekly video meetings (e-mulakats) with his family after noting that he had availed the facility for the past six years without violating prison rules.
Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai passed the order on Khalid's application in the larger conspiracy case related to the 2020 northeast Delhi riots. Khalid's counsel said his two weekly e-mulakats were reduced to one in May without explanation. Despite the jail's objection citing prison rules, the court restored two weekly video meetings, noting his six-year record of compliance.
