Kolkata, June 9 -- The Bengal government has instructed all district administrations to complete the survey related to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) (PMAY-G), Awas Plus 2024, by June 25, to ensure that people who have no houses or those living in mud houses get a house under the Central scheme.
The Panchayats and Rural Development Department already launched the survey to make the process of identifying beneficiaries under this scheme more transparent, impartial and free from political influence. The department has asked the districts to identify the valid beneficiaries and hold a survey.
The survey is being done on the AI-compatible Awas Plus 2024 mobile App. Aadhaar-based E-KYC verification is mandatory. Those who have a pucca house or have any motor vehicles or those who are government employees or those who have an earning of above Rs 15,000 will not be eligible to get a house under the scheme.
After becoming the state's first BJP Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari announced that all Central government projects that had allegedly
been put on hold by the previous TMC administration would be revived. Soon after, Adhikari's government decided to resume the Awas Plus 2024 survey under the PMAY-G, aimed at identifying eligible beneficiaries for rural housing assistance.
According to officials of the Panchayat Department, applications found to be ineligible during scrutiny at the block and district levels will be removed from the beneficiary list.
A draft list will then be published in Gram Sabhas, where discussions and objections, if any, will be taken up. As per the official directive, all field verification work must be completed by June 20, while the entire survey process is scheduled to conclude by June 25.
According to sources, applicants will be required to download the AwaasPlus 2024 and AadhaarFace RD mobile applications and complete Aadhaar-based identity verification before submitting their applications digitally.
After the applications are submitted, designated surveyors will visit applicants' homes to verify the information provided and assess their eligibility under the prescribed criteria of the housing scheme.
