Kolkata, Sept. 27 -- Four wagons of a coal-laden goods train derailed near Narayangarh in West Midnapore on Sunday afternoon, disrupting train movement on the down line of the Kharagpur-Balasore section. No casualties were reported.
The incident occurred around 4 pm near Rampura, between Narayangarh and Benapur stations, when the goods train was travelling from Odisha towards Kharagpur.
Two of the four derailed wagons fell some distance away from the tracks, while coal spilled at the site.
The section has three lines. The up line remained operational after the derailment, while movement in the down direction was started through the middle line around 6 pm, officials said.
Meanwhile, restoration of the affected down line was continuing, with movement on it expected to resume after the required fitness clearance.
The derailment led to disruption of train operations. Railway officials said the overall impact on train movement was limited, apart from delays caused by the disruption.
