New Delhi, Oct. 30 -- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday inaugurated the Blind Relief Association's Diwali Bazaar 2026 in New Delhi, encouraging people to support visually impaired artisans by purchasing their handmade products. She also announced that decorative and utility items for Mukhyamantri Janseva Sadan would be purchased from the fair.
During her visit, Gupta toured various stalls, purchased products and appreciated the creativity and craftsmanship of visually impaired individuals associated with the organisation.
"A person's physical challenges should never come in the way of their talent, abilities or dreams," the Chief Minister said, adding that visually impaired citizens possess immense skills, creativity and the ability to become self-reliant.
She said society must recognise and encourage their talent while supporting their economic empowerment by purchasing products made by them. The Delhi government is also working towards making the capital's infrastructure accessible to persons with disabilities, ensuring they can lead lives with dignity and enjoy equal opportunities, she added.
Gupta said decorative and utility items required for Mukhyamantri Janseva Sadan would also be purchased from the bazaar this year. She said buying products made by visually impaired artisans was a way of strengthening their confidence and promoting self-reliance.
The Chief Minister appealed to Delhi residents to visit the fair and purchase its products to support the artisans.
