Kolkata, Sept. 25 -- Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, while speaking at a programme in Burdwan, said that he would sanction funds for setting up gaushalas but would not allow illegal cattle smuggling through the state. He also said he would stop any kind of "love jihad".
He said the state government would bring in the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) soon and would make West Bengal corruption-free.
Farmers are the lifeblood of West Bengal, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari stated and pledged to stand by them at the administrative meeting in Burdwan on Friday. Adhikari inaugurated several projects of the Power and PWD in East Burdwan and made a big announcement for the farmers.
"Farmers will get a discount of up to Rs 25-30000 per year on electricity. More than 4 lakh farmers will get a subsidy of Rs 2 per unit of electricity," he said.
The CM said that the 4 lakh farmers will get an additional Rs 300 crore for their development. "There will be no brokers or rice mill mafia to deprive the farmers. The government will buy all the paddy. An incentive allowance of Rs 20000 will be given for 100 quintals of paddy," he said.
During the reception of the CM, at the administrative meeting in Burdwan, he said East Burdwan is the grain bank.
He said: "Farmers used to get Rs 6,000 per year under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. We have done the verification. By adding the applicants, they will get Rs 3,000 more, making a total of Rs 9,000."
He added: "The Krishak Bandhu verification will be done by September 30. Those who have land will get Rs 4,000 a year. Those who have more land, the government will give Rs 6,000. We will buy paddy at Rs 2,700 per quintal as the minimum support price."
Slamming the previous Trinamool government for the day-to-day oppression of potato farmers, Adhikari said: "The previous government oppressed potato farmers. It black-marketed fertilizers, closed borders and harassed the potato growers. Now the state government subsidies will come for potato farmers. A special package for potato farmers is coming in December."
He said that the money for the beneficiaries of Annapurna Yojana will arrive before the Puja. "I will give it to everyone," he remarked.
Adhikari handed over cheques to the beneficiaries of agriculture, irrigation, electricity subsidy and solar projects in East Burdwan, and thus Rs 123.4 crore were awarded.
He inaugurated the bridge at Jamalpur, along with sub-stations at Rajpur-Sonarpur, Bishnupur in South 24-Parganas, and three in East Burdwan.
Adhikari presented the government's development account for the people of the state from the 125-day work of the VBG Ram G project, from Annapurna to Awas Yojana, from Ayushman to Jaljivan Mission projects.
