India, Aug. 14 -- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated two newly constructed two-lane slip road bridge over the Ghazipur Drain and Hindon Canal at Kondli, aimed at improving connectivity and reducing traffic congestion in East Delhi. Union Minister of State and East Delhi MP Harsh Malhotra, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, Patparganj MLA Ravinder Singh Negi, Trilokpuri MLA Ravi Kant and senior officials attended the event. The project is expected to benefit residents of Kondli, Kalyanpuri, Ghazipur, Patparganj and nearby areas by providing smoother traffic movement and reducing pressure on the existing Kondli Bridge. After the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected the bridges and reviewed the traffic arrangements and infrastructure. She said, "the Kondli project, although approved earlier, had remained pending as required approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) were not secured." According to the Chief Minister, the present government completed the pending formalities, reallocated funds and expedited the project. She also highlighted the need to modernise Delhi's drainage system, saying inadequate maintenance and desilting of old drains had contributed to recurring waterlogging during the monsoon. The government, she said, is working towards strengthening the drainage network to provide a long-term solution.
