Ranchi, Oct. 4 -- Jharkhand players from the Indian women's hockey team that won gold at the 2026 Asian Games met Chief Minister Hemant Soren at his official residence on Sunday.

Team captain Salima Tete, along with Nikki Pradhan, Beauty Dungdung and Deepika Soreng, shared their experiences of the team's historic campaign with Soren.

The CM enquired about their preparations and tournament experience, congratulated them and honoured them with traditional shawls. He also offered sweets to celebrate their achievement.

Soren said the players' contribution to India's gold medal-winning performance was a matter of pride for Jharkhand and the country. He praised their talent, discipline, hard work and determination, saying their success had added a new chapter to the state's sporting history.

He said their achievement would inspire young athletes, particularly girls, to excel in sports. Soren also assured that the state government was working to nurture sporting talent.

MLA Kalpana Soren also congratulated the players.
