India, Aug. 14 -- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday joined 'Teej' celebrations at Mayor Pravesh Wahi's residence here, which was marked by traditional swings, festive delicacies and folk songs as the city celebrated the monsoon festival. According to an official statement, Gupta attended the celebrations at 1 Lancer Road and extended her greetings to women observing the festival. Mehndi was applied, and bangles were distributed to women at the event, bringing a festive touch to the mayor's residence, the statement read. The chief minister said folk festivals keep people connected with their culture and traditions and called for collective efforts to pass them on to the next generation. She also linked the celebrations with the city's environmental goals, saying, "We wish Hariyali Teej would become an occasion that inspires people to make Delhi greener."
