The National Capital Region (NCR) Sector will be restructured as Government Buildings, Museums and Monuments and Mass Rapid Transit System Sector headquartered at New Delhi. Besides, the Western Sector at Mumbai and South Sector at Chennai will be restructured as West Coast Port Sector and East Coast Port Sector respectively. The system for Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space Sector as also for the two airport sectors existing at present will continue.
The CISF said its decision to move towards specialised supervision of various industries and installations is based on the rich experience gained by it in specialised supervision of airlines and strategic establishments.
The new system would provide scope for training, standard operating procedures and enhanced coordination with respective clients.
According to CISF, this measure has been taken considering the widening responsibilities for enhanced security cover of ports as per the International Ship and Port Facilities Security Code, security of high-security correctional facilities at Jammu and Kashmir, besides aerial security of vital installations.
The CISF is also upgrading its capacities in cyber-security, drone and anti-drone to counter emerging threats to various vital installations.
