India, June 23 -- A child was injured after being attacked by a stray cow in southeast Delhi's Tughlakabad Extension, with CCTV footage of the incident showing the animal knocking him to the ground and mauling him before locals intervened. The incident occurred on Friday in Gali Number 10 of Tughlakabad Extension in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's (MCD) Central Zone. The CCTV footage, which has been widely circulated on social media, showed the child standing in a narrow lane when a stray cow suddenly charged at him with force. The animal tossed the boy to the ground and repeatedly attacked him with its horns and hooves. The cow then turned aggressive towards the rescuer as well and chased him while he was carrying the injured child, the video showed. Moments later, another stray cow joined in, and the two animals were seen chasing a group of three to four residents who had gathered at the spot. The animals were eventually driven away after locals used sticks to disperse them. "The child sustained injuries in the incident. He is recovering now," an official said. Following the incident, civic authorities captured both animals and shifted them to a gaushala in Rewla Khanpur, officials said. "The two cows involved in the incident have been sent to a gaushala in Rewla Khanpur," an MCD official said. The incident has renewed concerns over Delhi's stray cattle problem.
