Raipur, Nov. 3 -- Union Home minister Amit Shah said Chhattisgarh has seen tremendous growth in the economy and education.

The state has seen a 30 times increase in industrial production, a 17 times increase in per capita income and a 25 times increase in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).

"The statistics show tremendous growth in the state that is rich in natural and mineral resources. We are focusing on improving the education and technical infrastructure," he said.

The number of Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in the state has doubled and engineering colleges have increased three times. The number of polytechnics, colleges and universities have increased six times.

The state's literacy rate has increased from 65 per cent to 79 per cent.

The economic data shows how much of a challenge Chhattisgarh faces in turning their natural resources into economic opportunities, increased income and human development.

"In our fourth term in office we will transform Chhattisgarh from a land of fear to a land of faith. We will transform Chhattisgarh from a land of resources to a land of prosperity. We will ensure that we convert the potential of Chhattisgarh

into success. We will work towards making Chhattisgarh a prosperous and happy state," he said.
