NEW DELHI, May 25 -- Proceedings of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House on Monday witnessed repeated disruptions after councillors of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged protests over the alleged NEET examination paper leak controversy, leading to chaotic scenes and heated exchanges between the ruling BJP and the Opposition.

AAP councillors raised slogans demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and accused the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) of failing to protect the integrity of competitive examinations. During the protest, several councillors carried placards displaying a cockroach symbol along with the phrase "Cockroach Janata Party," targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a symbolic demonstration inside the House.

The Opposition alleged that repeated paper leak incidents across the country had jeopardised the future of lakhs of students and demanded a fair and impartial investigation into the controversy. The protest caused prolonged disruptions, forcing repeated interruptions in the proceedings.

Responding to the uproar, Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi criticised the AAP councillors for allegedly obstructing discussions on civic matters, particularly issues related to sanitation and drain cleaning. He said the General House meeting had been convened to deliberate on matters concerning public welfare and municipal administration, but repeated sloganeering prevented meaningful discussions.

Wahi stated that the BJP-led civic administration remained focused on developmental works and civic improvements in Delhi. He added that the Corporation had released development funds of Rs.50 lakh each for councillors and approved several proposals related to waste management, sanitation, and infrastructure development during the meeting.
