Kolkata, Oct. 7 -- The state CEO office has termed a post by TMC Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose on the enrolment of voters left out during the Special Intensive Revision as "misleading", pointing out that the Election Commission's notification specifically refers to eligible voters in the ASDD category and first-time/young electors being allowed to apply through Form 6.

The EC clarification came after Ghose posted on X questioning the decision to allow "deleted" voters to enrol through Form 6 after the elections. She argued that the special enrolment drive should have been undertaken earlier and questioned why it was being conducted after the polls.

The post of the CEO's office attached a press note dated October 6, where the office said the list of ASDD (Absentee, Shifted, Dead, Deleted) voters from SIR 2026 has been made available on the CEO's and district electoral officers' websites. Any eligible person whose name appears on the list can apply for inclusion in the electoral roll through Form 6, either online or through a Booth Level Officer (BLO).

The same provision applies to eligible first-time voters who have attained 18 years.

The CEO's office, however, objected to the manner in which the post characterised the process and reposted its earlier notification. Amid the controversy the office again published a notice clarifying the abbreviation ASDD stating, "Absent, Shifted, Dead & Duplicate."

Ghose subsequently retweeted the CEO's clarification, maintaining that her question concerned the timing of the exercise.
