New Delhi, July 10 -- Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi on Thursday reviewed the progress of renewable energy projects in the state, with officials stating that projects worth nearly Rs 1.35 lakh crore are under implementation.

The meeting at Sankalp, 1 Anne Marg reviewed PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, PM-KUSUM, Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA), floating solar projects, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), the Green Energy Corridor, small hydro projects and the solarisation of government buildings.

Ajay Yadav, Energy Secretary, Bihar, and Chairman & Managing Director, Bihar State Power Holding Company Ltd (BSPHCL), presented the status and future roadmap of renewable energy projects. Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), who attended virtually, assured continued technical, policy and financial support from the Centre for the state's green energy initiatives.

Joshi praised Bihar's ULA model and asked officials to speed up the approved rooftop solar programme, saying further expansion would be considered based on progress. Choudhary directed departments to implement PM Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM in mission mode and proposed a "Solar Didi" initiative to promote rooftop solar adoption among rural women. Energy Minister Shailesh Kumar alias Bulo Mandal said Bihar was committed to fully harnessing its renewable energy potential.
