India, July 5 -- Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested MES (Military Engineering Services) Assistant Garrison Engineer KK Soni of Manali, Himachal Pradesh for allegedly taking bribe of Rs 93,000 from various contractors for clearing their bills. According to the CBI, the case against the accused was filed on July 3, 2026 by one of the supervisor employed in one of the contractor firm who alleged that the accused had demanded Rs 93,000 bribe from him to clear his bill. The CBI mentioned that the complainant had paid Rs 40,000 cash to the accused in his office on July 3 and was told to pay the remaining amount on the next day. The agency laid a trap for the accused on July 4 and caught him red-handed when he demanded 93,000 from the complainant and took 53,000 from him. It also recovered 40,000 cash from the accused which the complainant had given to him on July 3 during simultaneous searches in his house situated in MES area of Manali. Meanwhile, the CBI also recovered one more cash of 10 lakh from the accused's house in Manali during searches. The agency is currently looking into the possibility of recovering more cash from the accused and is verifying the sources of the money. The accused has been arrested and will be produced before the Competent Court in Shimla on Sunday. Moreover, the CBI has said that it will probe further to ascertain whether the accused had taken any other bribes and the sources of the money recovered.
