India, July 30 -- The Delhi government has reconstituted the Delhi Commission for Safai Karamcharis, appointing Sunita Kangra as its chairperson and Manoj Kumar and Sushant Sagar as part-time members. The appointments were made on the directions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta as part of the government's efforts to strengthen the institutional framework for the welfare of sanitation workers and improve administrative governance, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday. The government said the reconstitution aims to make the Commission more effective, accountable and citizen-centric by placing experienced individuals in key positions.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said the decision reflects the government's commitment to public welfare, transparency and better governance. She said the objective is to ensure effective protection of the interests of every section of society while further strengthening institutions dedicated to the welfare of Safai Karamcharis. Highlighting the Commission's role, the Chief Minister said it plays an important part in promoting the welfare of sanitation workers, safeguarding their rights and ensuring timely resolution of issues affecting them. Gupta expressed confidence that the newly appointed members would help the Commission function in a more proactive and people-centric manner. She said the reconstitution would give fresh momentum to initiatives aimed at protecting the rights and advancing the welfare of Safai Karamcharis while also strengthening administrative efficiency and improving public service delivery in the national capital.
