New Delhi, Sept. 7 -- BSES has bagged three honours at the Bharat Electricity Leadership Honours 2026, recognising its leadership, operational performance and sustainability initiatives in the power distribution sector.

The awards were presented by Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik at the Bharat Electricity, POWERGEN India & Indian Utility Week 2026 event. Central Electricity Authority Chairperson Ghanshyam Prasad was also present.

Amal Sinha, Director and Group CEO, BSES, was named 'Distribution Leader of the Year' for his leadership and contribution to transforming the utility. Under his leadership, BSES has expanded its focus beyond conventional power distribution t

o areas including clean energy, battery energy storage, digital technologies, grid resilience and consumer-focused innovation.

BSES subsidiary BRPL was named 'State Distribution Utility of the Year' for its focus on operational excellence, reliability, technology-led transformation and consumer services.

BRPL also won the 'Best Sustainable Power Distribution Project of the Year' award for its 1 MVA SF₆-free underground 11 kV substation, described as a pioneering project in sustainable power infrastructure.

BRPL CEO Abhishek Ranjan, accompanied by the company's team, received both awards, with Sinha joining the team on stage for the State Distribution Utility recognition.

The awards, selected by a jury comprising power-sector leaders and experts, highlight BSES' focus on building a safer, smarter, greener and future-ready electricity distribution network through technology, sustainability and operational improvements.
