Kolkata, Sept. 9 -- Amid extortion allegations surfacing against various BJP leaders from various quarters, the party's national president Nitin Nabin is scheduled to reach the state for a two-day visit next week, ahead of civic body elections.

Sources within the party said Nabin will strengthen coordination between the party and the government. Several issues are likely to be discussed in the meetings, including the formation of a new state committee and a necessary reshuffle in the organisation. Nabin will arrive in the state on September 15 and is also expected to hold several organisational meetings with the state party leadership. BJP's all-India general secretary (organisation), B.L. Santhosh, may accompany Nabin.

Both Nabin and Santhosh are expected to give guidelines for ensuring coordination between the party's organisation and the state government.

The party has started planning its strategy for civic body elections. According to a state committee leader of the BJP, the state leadership is constantly sending messages to build better organisational coordination among the party's grassroots leaders and workers.

Incidentally, state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya in a parallel development on Wednesday, announced the state committee and the names of the party's state executive members in various organisational districts. Suvendu Adhikari has been made a state executive member in Tamluk organisational district, while Sukanta Majumdar was made an executive member of Dakshin Dinajpur.

Union minister Shantanu Thakur will look after Bongaon, while Tapas Roy will look after the North Kolkata organisational district. Jagannath Chattopadhya will look after Birbhum, Nisith Pramanik Cooch-Behar, and Agnimitra Paul Asansol.

State BJP leadership has received a series of complaints against several leaders who allegedly tried to extort money. A Yuva Morcha leader in Dum Dum allegedly demanded

Rs 30,000 from a businessman for training camps and also threatened to stop his business if the money was not provided. Another BJP leader in South 24-Parganas allegedly attacked a police constable in Baruipur.
