New Delhi, Aug. 17 -- The BJP on Monday announced its new national team under party president Nitin Nabin, carrying out a major organisational reshuffle that brings several experienced leaders back into prominent roles while also giving space to newer faces.

Former Union minister Smriti Irani has been appointed national general secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh, marking her return to a key organisational position at the national level. The new team includes eight national general secretaries and 13 national vice presidents. Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia has been named a national vice president. Other leaders appointed to the post include Ram Madhav, Baijayant Jay Panda, D Purandeshwari, Tirath Singh Rawat, Bharti Pawar, Manpreet Singh Badal and Tariq Mansoor, among others. Piyush Goyal has been appointed national treasurer, while Vinod Tawde has been included among the national general secretaries. The reshuffle also includes 16 national secretaries as part of the new organisational structure.

The party has also made appointments to its frontal organisations. Hemang Joshi has been named president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, while Roop Kumari Choudhary will head the BJP Mahila Morcha. The restructuring comes after Nitin Nabin took charge as BJP national president and is seen as an effort to strengthen the party's organisational machinery ahead of a series of state elections. The new line-up combines senior leaders with younger representatives and gives greater organisational responsibility to leaders from different regions.
