India, July 22 -- Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra on Tuesday strongly criticised the Congress party for staging a protest outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official residence, calling it "highly condemnable" and "an insult to democracy." In a statement, Malhotra alleged that the protests and unrest witnessed over the past three days were not a genuine student movement but were politically motivated. "The chaos witnessed over the past three days is not a student movement. In reality, it is the unfortunate outcome of ongoing attempts by the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, Communists and Samajwadi Party to incite a youth movement," he said. Malhotra asserted that the Prime Minister's Office symbolises the dignity of the nation and said protesting outside the Prime Minister's residence amounted to disrespecting not only the office but also the people of India. "The office of the Prime Minister represents the honour of 1.4 billion Indians. By surrounding and protesting at the Prime Minister's residence, the Congress has insulted not just the Prime Minister, but the people of the country as well," he said.
