New Delhi, Sept. 3 -- A Bihar resident was allegedly lured to Delhi on the pretext of settling an old rivalry and shot dead at a rented premises in southeast Delhi's Pul Prahladpur, with police arresting eight people, officials said on Thursday. Md Irshad Alam alias Guddu Badshah, from Supaul, was allegedly called to Delhi by Shamshad and Ashafak, also from Supaul. Police said the meeting was a trap and Alam was shot dead on July 28. Md Farukh, found injured at the scene, initially claimed to be a victim but was arrested after interrogation, call-record analysis and technical surveillance exposed inconsistencies in his account.
The accused were identified as Farukh, Aftab, Irfan, Shamshad, Ashafak, Rahmatullah alias Chhotu, Shoib Akhtar and Aman Yadav. Police said they played different roles in planning the murder, arranging accommodation and transport, executing the attack and concealing evidence.
Aftab was traced to Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu, while an illegal pistol, magazine and live cartridges were recovered from Irfan following his disclosure. Police said the accused switched off phones and used internet-based communication to evade arrest but were traced through technical surveillance, CCTV footage, movement tracking and field intelligence. mpost
