KOLKATA, April 3 -- Bengali screenwriter and director Utsav Mukherjee of 'Bheetu' fame has gone missing after stepping out for a personal errand at a bank on Thursday. His wife, Moupia Bandyopadhyay, has filed a missing diary at Anandapur Police Station.

The last tracked location of his phone showed Bidhannagar.

According to the wife, Utsav had gone to a private bank in Nimta on Thursday morning to withdraw money. Even after 24 hours, he had not returned home. She filed a missing diary at the police station on Thursday night.

Moupia said that Utsav, who has also written scripts for films like Joto Kando Kolkatai, doesn't use a smartphone and he uses a basic phone as people used earlier.

After reaching the bank, she spoke once or twice.

He told me the work was almost done and that he would return after withdrawing the money.

But when she called him at 2:22 pm, his phone was switched off.
