Kolkata, July 30 -- A roadside food stall owner from the Beliaghata area was left in shock after discovering that a staggering Rs 47.25 crore had been credited to her Punjab National Bank (PNB) account.
The incident, reportedly, came to light when Nupur Ghosh, who runs a small home-delivery service alongside her stall, checked her account balance to verify a routine UPI transaction from a customer. Instead of her usual modest balance, her phone screen displayed a mind-boggling figure of Rs 47,25,48,281.96.
Panicked by the unexpected windfall, Ghosh immediately rushed to the PNB Beleghata branch to report the anomaly.
Meanwhile, the bank froze the account after such a large sum was credited. However, Ghosh reportedly claimed that on Thursday she generated a mini-statement from an ATM showing the amount had been debited, although the account remained frozen. Mpost
