Barnala, July 31 -- Basant Garg, IAS, CMD, PSPCL/PSTCL, along with Er. Punardeep Brar, Director (Generation), PSPCL, visited the 66 KV Grid Sub Station, Badbar, during his visit to Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant, Lehra Mohabbat, to review power supply arrangements for agricultural and domestic consumers.
The review was attended by Er. RK Mittal, Chief Engineer/DS South, Er. Sanjiv Garg, SE, Protection & Maintenance, Patiala, Er. Vikas Singla, XEN City Division, Barnala, Er. Deepinder Partap, XEN, P&M, Barnala.
Officials informed the CMD that the Badbar grid, commissioned in 2009, was initially equipped with a 12.5 MVA power transformer and is supplied through a 12-km-long 66 KV single-circuit line from the 220 KV Dhanaula Sub Station, currently operating at around 60% loading.
The substation caters to four Non-AP feeders supplying electricity to Badbar, Bhure, Kubbe, Bhaini Mehraj and nearby areas, besides nine agriculture feeders supporting the farming sector.
With increasing demand, an additional 12.5 MVA transformer was commissioned in 2015. Both transformers are currently operating at around 80% loading. Officials informed that a proposal to augment Transformer No. 1 from 12.5 MVA to 20 MVA is under active consideration to enhance reliability and meet future requirements. Garg reviewed the operational status and augmentation plans of the grid and appreciated the efforts of field officers in maintaining reliable power supply. He stressed timely completion of upgrade works.
