Ranchi, Sept. 18 -- The Jharkhand High Court on Friday dismissed an interlocutory application (application pending another proceeding) filed by chief minister Hemant Soren seeking stay on further proceedings in ECIR Case that was registered in 2023 which pertained to alleged Bargain land case.
Soren had moved the application for grant of interim relief against the further proceeding before the Special PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Court in Ranchi.
The matter had come up for orders on Friday and the HC moved to dismiss the application.
It may be recalled that the request for interim stay of proceedings in the said case is not a final order on the allegations made against Soren.
The case pertains to alleged irregularities in 8.86 acres of land in Bargain area of Ranchi. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has alleged that the land transaction forms part of a money-laundering case. The Special PMLA court had earlier rejected Soren's discharge plea on the ground that there was a prima facie case against him on the basis of the evidence produced before it by the ED.
Soren had challenged the order of the Special PMLA court before the Jharkhand HC and sought stay of further proceedings before the lower court.
The HC had reserved the order on the application on September 16 after hearing the plea of his counsel.
