New Delhi, Sept. 5 -- Two BJP workers, Soumyadeep Saha and Ratul Mondal, were allegedly attacked while conducting a night vigil in Baghajatin under Jadavpur Police Station early on Saturday.

The duo, part of a local BJP Yuva Morcha initiative, reportedly intervened after noticing alleged anti-social activities and a quarrel between a couple around 1 am.

According to their complaint, they were abused and pelted with stones when they protested, leaving both injured. The workers later approached the local police station and lodged a complaint.

They also alleged that anti-social activities have become frequent in areas adjoining Jadavpur University and claimed that some Left-leaning student organisations were involved. Police have registered a specific case based on their complaint and begun an investigation.

The incident has brought renewed political attention to allegations of lawlessness in and around the university neighbourhood, with the BJP workers seeking action against those responsible for the attack.
