New Delhi, April 16 -- The Ministry of Home Affairs has granted the registration of Shri Bageshwar Jan Seva Samiti, under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), making the religious organisation eligible to receive foreign funds.

The samiti, led by preacher Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, is described as a religious, cultural, economic, educational, and social organisation. The Bageshwar Dham website lists the samiti as the account holder, through which people can contribute to support it. The organisation is one of the 38 organisations, including Ramakrishna Math Bolpur, Sri Ramakrishna Sharada Ashrama in Karnataka, Ramkrishna Math in Purnea, Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, NIIT Foundation, and HCL Foundation, among others, that were cleared by the ministry for receiving foreign funds this year.
