
New Delhi, May 12 -- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday attended the swearing-in ceremony of Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati and congratulated him on assuming office for a second consecutive term as Assam Chief Minister.
Calling the BJP's victory in Assam a "historic mandate", Rekha Gupta said the result reflected the people's trust in Himanta Biswa Sarma's leadership and commitment to governance and public service. "The people have once again endorsed the politics of development, stability and national interest," she said.
The Chief Minister noted that Assam has witnessed rapid progress in infrastructure, governance, tourism, investment and public welfare in recent years. She said that under Himanta Biswa Sarma's leadership, the state has emerged as a major development model for the Northeast.
Rekha Gupta also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for bringing the Northeast into the mainstream of India's development journey. She said Assam is seeing significant growth in connectivity, education, employment and tourism while contributing strongly to the vision of a "Viksit Bharat".
During her visit, the Delhi Chief Minister also offered prayers at the revered Kamakhya Temple along with Baglamukhi Temple and Umananda Temple. She performed traditional rituals and prayed for the nation's peace, prosperity and overall development.
"The people of Assam have once again endorsed the politics of development, good governance and public service," Rekha Gupta said while expressing gratitude for the BJP's third consecutive electoral victory in the state.
She also expressed confidence that Assam would continue to achieve new milestones of development while preserving its rich cultural heritage over the next five years.
