Kolkata, July 16 -- Barely three days after the recovery of an IT employee's body from the Bagjola Canal in New Town, the body of another youth was recovered from the Keshtopur Canal in the Nayapatti area on Thursday morning.
According to sources, locals first noticed the body floating in the water near the Nayapatti sluice gate at around 10:30 am and informed the authorities. Police personnel from Electronics Complex Police Station reached the spot, recovered the body from the canal and sent it to Bidhannagar Multi Speciality Hospital for post-mortem.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that the deceased, believed to be around 30 years of age, was not a local resident. No identity documents or personal belongings were recovered from the spot that could help establish his identity. As the body was in a decomposed state, nothing significant could be ascertained during the inquest proceedings.
